Robert Collins

Robert Collins is the author of Jim Lane: Scoundrel, Statesman, Kansan, a biography of the “Bleeding Kansas” leader Senator James H. Lane. It’s the first biography of Lane to be published in 40 years. It was released in 2007 by Pelican Publishing. In 2005 Pelican published Collins’ General James G. Blunt: Tarnished Glory, the first biography of Kansas’ highest-ranking and most important Civil War General.

Collins has also had six books on Kansas railroading published by South Platte Press. These include Kansas Railroad Attractions, a railroad tourism book; Ghost Railroads of Kansas, a book on railroads that no longer exist; and Kansas Pacific: An Illustrated History, about the first railroad to build across the state. Collins self-published another railroad book, The Race to Indian Territory, in 2005.

Collins’ first SF novel, Expert Assistance, was published in 2007 by Asylett Press. His second novel is due soon from eTreasures Publishing. He’s had stories and articles appear in periodicals such as Tales of the Talisman; Marion Zimmer Bradley’s Fantasy Magazine; Pyramid; The Fifth Di…; Wild West; Model Railroader; and the Wichita Eagle. Several years ago he published a short story magazine, and before that wrote and published a series of local travel booklets.
